Fast Ways to Exit Sketches in SolidWorks - Page 2

Notice that the left mouse gesture in the Sketch environment is assigned to the Line command.

Uncheck “Show only commands with mouse gestures assigned” and then type Force Regen in the search cell.

You will see the Force Regen command in the Command column.

Click in the Sketch environment cell and select the left mouse gesture.

This removes the left mouse gesture from the Line command and adds it to the Force Regen command. Click OK to apply your changes.

Now hold your right mouse button down and slowly drag your mouse to the left.

This is the Mouse Gesture Guide. When you drag your right mouse button past the Force Regen command the sketch will close and the model will be regenerated. In practice you quickly right drag to the left to close the sketch.

You’ll probably want to use the next method of exiting a sketch because it’s the fastest. So if you want to reset the left mouse gesture back to the Line command you can use the same procedure we just used to change it to the Force Regen command. Just select the left mouse gesture in the Sketch column for the Line command.

You can also click the Reset to Defaults button to reset all the mouse gestures to the factory settings.

So what’s the fastest way to exit a sketch?
The fastest way to exit a sketch is to double click in the graphics area.
