Model Based Definition (MBD) is use to produce Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), which is an alternative to mechanical drawings. Dimensions, material specifications, BOMs, tables, and notes can be attached directly to the 3D model. This information, along with model data, can be use by venders, marketing managers, and other professionals the same way mechanical drawings are used. It can also be output to PDF format showing information similar to that of standard mechanical drawings.
This course takes you from the basics creating quality PMI through to creating professional looking PDFs.
If you've tried to use MBD and found that some of your dimensions brake, you can watch this course to find out why and how to fix them. This course shows you what you need to know to successfully use the add-in.
You'll learn also how to apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) commands. You'll learn about Datums used by GD&T, and you'll practice adding Feature Control Frames and tolerances. Keep in mind that this is not a course on GD&T. It shows you how to apply GD&T commands.
It covers both SOLIDWORKS Premium MBD and SOLIDWORKS MBD. SOLIDWORKS Premium has the same 3D modeling commands. While SOLIDWORKS MBD has additional commands used to create dynamic PDF files.
